I'm self taught in watercolor, graphite sketch, prismacolor pencils, ink and pen, and acrylic paints. Since before I could write my name, I produced pictures with crayons and pencils in any way I could, Throughout my childhood, I endeavored to improve my skills with first altering coloring books and later drawing my own pictures for coloration. This evolved over the years and now as an adult, I incorporate elements of traditional watercolor, Eastern and Western style comics, sumi-e (Japanese ink drawing), and art nouveau into my illustrations.

My subject matter ranges greatly, but I often find myself drawn to nature, animals, and character portraits. More than a slavish dedication to perfection in any one style, I value the skills learned from free experimentation in whatever materials and subjects inspire me most strongly. Often, this inspiration comes from my everyday life observing birds, flowers, or perhaps experimenting with new techniques and materials in the hopes of perfecting my workflow and improving my skills.
